Dublin City is a fantastic city to discover and travel about but did you know you can find some amazing things to do for free around the city?
Irish travel website, Your Irish Adventure made a list of free things to do in the city and some of them sound fantastic.
We picked our favorites and made a list, have a look and get some inspiration!
12. Go Hiking in Wicklow
If you have rented a car but finances are tight then head on over to the Wicklow mountains to see some stunning scenery that is very close to Dublin City.
The mountains are only about an hour away from the city and offer some beautiful views.
One of our favorite hikes is called 'The Spinc and Glenealo Valley.' Check it out.
11. Check out the National War Memorial Gardens
These gardens are unknown to locals and offer a beautiful, tranquil environment to reflect on Ireland's complicated and often violent past.
A unique spot in the city.
10. Go hiking on Howth Head
Howth is only a short bus or train ride away from the city and offers some lovely walks along the cliffs there.
They are also not very well known so you will often have the whole place to yourself if you enjoy some peace and quiet.
9. St. Patrick's Day Parade
If you are looking for a massive party then the St. Patricks Day Parade is worth checking out.
Dublin City is insanely busy on that day and the entire city comes to a standstill when the parade begins.
It is always a hugely colorful and musical event and a great way to interact with the city.
8. Check out the ukulele night in The Stag's Head
If you are in Dublin on a Tuesday, go to The Stags Head. It is a pub where dozens of people gather to play the ukulele together every Tuesday.
If you bring a ukelele you can even play along!
7. Visit the Oscar Wilde Statute in Merrion Square
Merrion Square is a very popular little park amongst the locals. It is very peaceful and always easy to find a patch of grass to relax and enjoy watching the world go by.
There is also a really great statue of Oscar Wilde in the park so look out for him while you're there!
6. Feed the ducks in Stephen's Green
St Stephens Green is smack bang in the heart of Dublin and a very popular place to check out while in the city. Many come here just to feed the ducks and you will always see young families with arms outstretched in front of the ducks.
5. Visit the Glasnevin Cemetary
Glasnevin Cemetary is where some of Ireland's most revolutionary heroes are buried.
You could spend days walking around the gravestones and learning all about the history of the people buried there.
If you feel like splashing out, the tours that they put on there are fascinating and extremely informative too.
4. Enjoy Traditional Irish Music in The Cobblestone
The Cobblestone in Smithfield is a great pub to check out if you want to see some traditional Irish music. It is not touristy at all and every night of the week they will have some form of live music.
This one is a favorite among locals so it must be good!
3. Visit the Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum is definitely one of the strangest museums in Dublin. It is a museum filled with dead, stuffed animals.
Many are extremely exotic and the bodies of a lot of them are over a hundred years old.
They also have a skeleton of the Giant Irish Deer and it is absolutely HUGE.
A great visit, as long as you aren't squeamish!
2. See the Hidden Garden in Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle is a great place to visit to learn about the history and although there is a fee to go inside, the area and gardens are yours to explore.
It is a great, quiet spot that offers plenty if you want to explore.
1. Feed the deer in The Phoenix Park
The Phoenix Park is a huge park that is within walking distance of Dublin City and it is always easy to find the heard of deer that roam the park. They are really friendly and even more so if you bring along a bag of carrots.
